Who is Home Techies?

Home Techies is an on-demand, on-site IT support service for home users. We provide help for your personal and home tech devices, in the comfort of your home. Our services cover computers, home gadgets, mobiles phones and tablets.

Why was Home Techies started?

We have actually been sorting out IT problems for friends, family and colleagues for many years. Over that time, we realised that personal and home tech has gotten so complex that it is now quite ridiculous to manage without spending a lot of time tweaking and syncing gadgets. Most people just give up and use their gadgets as dumb devices, even though they have paid hefty sums for them. 

We want to help people get back control and be able to fully utilise their devices. It makes us happy to see things being used the way they are designed to. Plus – if things work well (and they always do, after configuring correctly), they won’t get discarded and replaced and we help reduce wastage for the planet. 

How do I book the services?

Booking our services is simple. Just browse the website and look for the services you want and add them to the shopping cart. Then provide some information regarding your problems and place the order. We will receive your order and make an appointment to come to your place

Can I book the services for someone else, like my aged parents?

Of course you can. In fact, one of the reasons why people use our services is because they don’t have time to help their parents sort out their home gadgets! To book the services for someone else, just provide an alternative address on the checkout page (under the Special Notes section), and we will send our Techie to that location.

When will I know if my appointment is confirmed?

Once we have scheduled the Techie to attend to your service order, we will send you an email to confirm the appointment.

How do I pay?

You can choose to pay by CASH or CREDIT CARD. If you choose CASH, our Techie will take payment from you once the job is done and you are happy. If you choose CREDIT CARD, we will place a hold on your card for the service fees, and only charge the amount AFTER completing the service to your satisfaction. 

How do you charge?

We charge a fixed price for the services that you have booked. All the prices are listed on the website and are completely transparent – no small prints. Unlike most support services, we do not charge by the hour and this means you do not have to worry about runaway repair costs.

Is there a warranty for the services?

Yes. We provide a basic warranty that ranges from 1 to 3 months depending on the services rendered. The details can be found on the individual service description webpage. If within that time, the problem recurs after we fixed it, we will come sort it out for you again, for free. This is, quite obviously, provided you do not change the equipment settings or configurations.

I need to change or cancel my appointment.

No problem. Please call us at +65 81890174 at least 1 day before the appointment to inform us and we can make the changes. If the request for change is too late, we may have to charge you $30 for administrative fees.

Do you guys have an app for this?

Not yet, but it’s coming! =)

I have a problem with the Techie that was assigned to me.

We are committed to providing a safe and pleasant experience when using our services. Please call us IMMEDIATELY at +65 81890174 and we will take remedial actions.

Is it safe to use your services?

We take extra steps to ensure that your safety and privacy are protected. For example, we will never ask you for your passwords when fixing your devices – you’ll have to enter them yourself. Our Techies are background-checked to make sure that they are good folks.

What about my privacy?

During the course of our work, we may have to log into your accounts or your devices. During that time, it is inevitable that we may be able to see some of your data (eg. messages, photos, files, etc). If there are some sensitive data, please let us know beforehand and we will try our best to work around it. Please note, however, sometimes it is not possible. For example, we will not be able to transfer all your photos from your computer to your phone without opening up the photo management app. If you have concerns, please chat with us before ordering.

Can I watch you guys work?

Of course! Please feel free to observe our work and ask any questions. We hope that by doing so, you can feel safe using our services and see that we take our work seriously and treat your devices and data with care.

Sorry!! Just call us and we will take your order over the phone. 

I need help with something that isn't listed on the website.

Home Techies was started because we enjoy tinkering with stuff and we love a good challenge any day! Just contact us and let us know what you need. We will most probably be able to get it sorted out. And don’t worry, we will quote you a reasonable price and if it does not get resolved, we’ll not take your money.

I'd rather go to your office to get things repaired.

You are more than welcome to visit us during our office hours (10 am – 6 pm, Mondays to Fridays). We can fix your devices while you wait or you can leave them with us and collect another time. Free coffee on the house!

Can you help with Office IT?

Yes. Most small business IT needs are actually quite similar to home IT needs – emails, working computers, network servers and printing and some online services. In fact, our office is powered by comsumer-grade IT solutions that have worked seamlessly for many years. We can help you set up your new office similarly – just contact us!

I don't know which particular device to buy. Can you help me?

We can help provide factual information on the devices you are looking at, such as compatibility and features. However, we cannot provide recommendations as everyone’s needs and wants are rather different and we do not want to end up being responsible for something beyond our control.
